Windsor man wins $1.5 million in Lotto 6/49

A Windsor man has won a $1.5-million lottery jackpot by matching all six numbers in Lotto 6/49.

Faiz Putrus, 50, split the $3 million Aug. 15 national jackpot with another player somewhere in Canada.

Putrus, whose first name means “successful” or “victorious” in Arabic, is a granite designer, and is married with two children.

“I thought I was dreaming when I saw the validation slip,” said Putrus, who picked up his prize Monday at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“I tried my best to control my excitement.”

Putrus has been playing the lottery for only two years and always plays using quick picks.

He plans to use the money to purchase a house, start his own business, and buy iPads and iPhones for his two teenagers.

The Winning ticket was purchased at Bradshaw Fuels on Tecumseh Road West in Windsor.
